Silicone RTV-2 Condensation-curing
![]()
Major Characteristics
- Elastosil which vulcanises by condensation is made of two components, a polymer (rubber) and a hardener (catalyst). The mix ratios of both vary between 2 % and 5 % according to the specific product.
- Vulcanisation creates a volatile product reaction (alcohol) causing the product to contract by between 0.5 % and 0.8 %
- Alterations to the vulcanisation process can only occur due to a lack of humidity. Relative humidity in the work place should be over 45 %
- The moulds cannot be used immediately after manufacture. The residual alcohol must be eliminated from the vulcanite before use.
- Shore A range from 12 to 60
